Second Amendment: Responsible Rights and Community Safety

I support the Second Amendment and the rights of law-abiding Texans to own firearms for lawful purposes, including self-defense. At the same time, every family deserves to feel safe at home, at school, and in the community. We don’t have to choose between constitutional rights and community safety—we can pursue both with responsibility and common sense.

What I’ll fight for

·Protecting the constitutional rights of responsible gun owners.

·Promoting responsible ownership through safety education, secure storage, and theft prevention—especially in homes with children.

·Focusing enforcement on violent offenders, repeat criminals, and illegal trafficking—not law-abiding Texans.

·Strengthening school and community safety planning in partnership with local leaders and law enforcement.

·Expanding access to mental health and crisis resources so families can get help early, before a crisis turns into tragedy.

What it looks like in practice

·Supporting practical safety initiatives that reduce accidental injuries and firearm theft.

·Backing targeted law enforcement tools that disrupt illegal gun trafficking and prosecute violent crime.

·Supporting evidence-based crisis response, including improved coordination between schools, community providers, and first responders.

·Investing in early intervention and mental health access so warning signs are addressed quickly and responsibly.

How we measure progress

·Reduced firearm theft and fewer preventable accidents involving unsecured weapons.

·Lower rates of violent crime and repeat offending.

·Faster access to crisis and mental health services for individuals and families.

·Safer schools and communities without infringing on the rights of responsible gun owners.
